SPINELESS SAPIEN
(To be read out loud)
What hollow morn does the sun bring me now? To be loathed or loved?
What facile a choice thou doest leave for mine heart. A heart once strong for thee and thy approving nod, A heart which yearned that thou might beckon my lips to linger at thy most perfect mouth. But the heart and mouth doeth turn so quickly with n'er a scant of reason. and hurl it's arrows in a spray at my breast. Retrieve them not! Leave them to linger, that, thou might on dour occasion turn them deeper still. how cans't my grace be so adroitly dismissed? So little fellow feeling for the long loyal dog!
Ye have received of my love, my grace. my best, my youth: yet repaid me with dis-grace and dishonor. Woulds't thou know, ye also lay low thine own soul along with mine. Thou sayeth, "thou hast left me for not much of a man) I replied, 'True sir. but ii would not take much of a man to be more than thee." I part in broken relief.
Fair thee as thou fairest me,
Penelope
fair thee well in hell!
People pray for one another. One of the most wonderfully intimate things you can do for someone is to pray with them and continue to pray for them afterwards. It perfectly demonstrates the love Jesus said would identify his followers. Your words may not be perfect, but the gesture is! Even if you only touch the shoulder and utter but one heartfelt sentence., "May God strengthen you," you will have done a fine, fine thing And if your church has an altar, and people are invited to go there, don't let them stand there by themselves. Love bids, implores, commands that you not let that person stand alone. It is a very empty feeling when you walk to that altar in need and dozens or hundreds of people sit on their blessed assurance, unsympathetic to the souls who are silently crying out to their father in their hour of need. Jesus too, had an hour of need, several hours to be exact. He asked his disciples three times to please stay awake and be there for him. This was the toughest night he had ever faced, but they wouldn't stand by him while he prayed. Well, He in the form of his body on earth is still at the altar, pleading for his disciples to pray with him and for his sheep. If it was you or one of your children at the altar, wouldn't you want to be surrounded and upheld by the prayers of fellow believers as well as the Holy Spirit? Don't let fear for any other self-ish reason stop you. You never know who might be there: Your child, your best friend, yourself, or maybe Him!. It's one of the smallest big things you can do.
Pray to God for the gift of his son to be manifest in our hearts. That seed wants to bear fruit, flow out, and bless others. And when we see the gift overflowing in others, we are not jealous, but rejoice! There is only one thing that makes another's gift greater than yours. That is your failure to use your gift for His Glory. |
